New authorities have been named for finance ministry, SENPLADES, Ministry of Transport, Secretariat of Politics and two secretariats attached to the Presidency.
Quito, May 16 (Andes).- Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno made changes to the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Development Secretariat (SENPLADES), National Secretariat of Political Management and secretariats attached to the Presidency.
The chief of state named Richard Martinez as new finance minister to replace Maria Elsa Viteri. The entrepreneur, the third finance minister of the current administration, committed to make public accounts transparent and to create jobs and investment for the country.
Paul Granda will lead the Secretariat of Political Management. Granda previously served as minister of Transport and will be replaced by Boris Palacios.
Jose Augusto Briones will replace Etzon Romo in SENPLADES.
Eduardo Jurado was appointed Secretary General of the Presidency and Juan Sebastian Roldan continues to be Private Secretary.
The six officials assumed their posts during a ceremony at the Carondelet government palace in Quito where they expressed their commitment to work on boosting the country’s economy.
The head of state thanked the new cabinet members and challenged them to meet citizens’ demands and strengthen an efficient administration of public resources, putting the most vulnerable population’s interests first.
These changes are made few days before Moreno marks his first year in office. Previously, the president asked all of his ministers to resign in order to evaluate their job and begin a “new period.”
